Product information "Performance parts package 1.6 NBFL SG145"

This performance package was developed by SPS Motorsport on the racetrack, adapted for street use, and continuously refined. All components are engineered in-house and used in our own race cars — delivering maximum performance, uncompromising quality, and a clean, OEM-like engine bay appearance.

Two Options – Parts Package or Full Installation

You can choose between two configurations:

  • Parts Package (without installation): Receive all components for self-installation. ECU tuning, dyno protocol, and TÜV registration are not included.
  • Full Installation (with tuning & registration): All components are professionally installed at SPS Motorsport. The ECU is then individually calibrated on our in-house dyno and on the road — including a dyno protocol. Finally, the entire conversion is inspected and officially registered at our facility. Registration is included in the price.

Power Upgrade to 145 HP

Stage 3 includes:

  • SPS header kit for the MX-5 NB 1.6
  • Programmable standalone ECU incl. wideband lambda sensor
  • Performance camshafts with custom cam timing

This setup delivers clean power delivery, improved torque, and high-revving response.

Note: Full power output is only achieved when paired with an exhaust system featuring a minimum pipe diameter of 55 mm. We recommend our Group A exhaust system, which can be added as an accessory during checkout. Without it, the 145 HP target will not be reached.

Registration Notice

⚠️ This performance package can be combined with these exhaust systems:

  • Friedrich Motorsport Group A
  • Fox/SPS Group A
  • Fox/SPS JDM

For other exhaust systems please contact us in advance via email, so we can check first whether a TÜV registration is possible.

Accessory Items

Water pump 1.6L NB/NBFL / 1.8L NA/NB/NBFL
Mazda original water pump suitable for Mazda MX-5 NA/NB/NBFL 1.8L engines (engine code BP) as well as for 1.6L NB/NBFL (engine code B6). We use this water pump in all of our complete engines and their part packages. The article only includes the water pump itself, the two required gaskets can be ordered using "add additional parts".

Single Registration at SPS
Airbox Kit MX-5 NB/NBFL for OEM engine
After some development time we can finally offer you our own intake system for your MX-5 NB/NBFL. The kit is based on the airbox from our turbo kits, which is now used for use in the natural aspirated area. The intake air then reaches the throttle body through a molded hose, which basically has the same course as the original intake hose. Included in the kit are: SPS Airbox Kit Molded hose from air box to throttle body Intake air temperature sensor including matching pins, matching connector and cable for connection All required small parts (hose clamps, screws etc.) ATTENTION! The use of a standalone ECU t is essential here, as the original air mass meter is replaced with an intake air temperature sensor! Use with the OEM ECU is not possible!
