Recap of the first TimeAttack 2024 Race - Hockenheimring

Recap of the First TimeAttack 2024 Race – Hockenheimring

Our first race of the season was scheduled for Sunday, April 28th. The weather was perfect upon our arrival on Saturday: sunny, 25°C, with just a few clouds in the sky. However, the journey to Hockenheim was not without its challenges. Although the truck departed without issues early in the afternoon, we had to replace the CX5 towing the trailer with our pickup after just five minutes. Additionally, Daniele's NC experienced excessive pressure in the expansion tank at high speeds.

Despite these initial setbacks, we all arrived safely and on time at the Hockenheimring, allowing us to prepare thoroughly for race day.

Sunday started off well, with all ten MX-5s in our garage taking their first laps. Unfortunately, problems soon arose. The only MX-5 in the Pro class – Jürgen's Turbo NB – encountered fuel rail leaks, which were fixed, but he ultimately had to retire due to a faulty injector.

Our ND, driven by Dominik Sternberg on Sunday, was only a few seconds off the top spots. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to compete in the final as the race was prematurely halted.

Nevertheless, we managed to secure two trophies. Dominik clinched third place in the Club NA class with his NC, narrowly missing out to a GT86 and a Lotus Elise in the qualifying round. Lennart also achieved third place in his first TimeAttack race and his first laps at Hockenheim in the Club 2WD class. Both classes had 13 cars each.

Overall, it was a weekend that showed us that the competition is fierce, and we need to prepare thoroughly for the next race. Our goal is clear: we want not just to participate but to win!
