Corresponding detailed information is available on request.
Information on the appropriate or reasonable warranties and the possibility of receiving a copy from you can be obtained from the Data Protection Officer on request.
7. Collection and processing of data in the vehicle
Data stored by the driver himself
All data that can be stored in the vehicle by the driver himself, such as. Phonebook contacts, navigation destinations or favorites can usually also be deleted by hand.
Data processing in the vehicle
Your vehicle has electronic control units installed. Control units process data that they receive, for example from vehicle sensors, generate themselves or exchange with each other. Some control units are required for the safe functioning of your vehicle, others help with driving (driver assistance systems), others allow comfort or infotainment functions.
Below you will find general information about data processing in the vehicle. Additional information on which specific data is collected, stored and transmitted to third parties for what purpose in your vehicle can be found under the keyword "data protection" in direct connection with the notes on the affected features in the respective operating instructions. These are also available online and, depending on the equipment, digitally in the vehicle.
personal references
Each vehicle is marked with a unique chassis number. This vehicle identification number is traceable to the current and former owner of the vehicle. There are also other ways of returning data collected from the vehicle to the keeper or driver, e.g. over the license plate.
The data generated or processed by control units can therefore be personal or, under certain circumstances, personal. Depending on which vehicle data is available, conclusions may be made, for example. on your driving behavior, your location or your route or on the user behavior possible.
Your rights with regard to data protection
Under current privacy laws, you have certain rights over companies that process your personal information.
Thereafter, you have a free and comprehensive right to information against the manufacturer as well as third parties (for example commissioned breakdown services or workshops, providers of online services in the vehicle), provided that they have stored personal data of you. In doing so, you may request information about which personal data is stored for which purpose and for what purpose and where the data came from. Your right to information also includes the transmission of data to other agencies.
Data that is stored only locally in the vehicle, you can with expert support, for example. in a workshop, if necessary, for a fee.
Legal requirements for disclosure of data
As far as legal regulations exist, manufacturers are obliged in principle to issue data stored on the requisite extent from the state authorities to the manufacturer in individual cases (for example, in the investigation of a criminal offense).
Public authorities are also authorized to read data from vehicles in individual cases within the scope of applicable law. For example, information can be read from the airbag control unit in the event of an accident, which can help to clarify this.
Operating data in the vehicle
to operate the vehicle process control devices data.
These include, for example:
Vehicle status information (e.g., speed, travel delay, lateral acceleration, wheel revolution speed, closed seat belt indicator),
Environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, rain sensor, distance sensor).
As a rule, these data are volatile and are not stored beyond the operating time and only processed in the vehicle itself. Controllers often contain data storage. These are used to document information about vehicle condition, component stress, maintenance requirements as well as technical events and errors temporarily or permanently.
Depending on the technical equipment:
Operating conditions of system components (e.g., levels, tire pressure, battery status),
Faults and defects in important system components (e.g., lights, brakes),
Reactions of the systems in special driving situations (for example, deployment of an airbag, deployment of stability control systems),
Information on vehicle damaging events,
for electric vehicles, state of charge of the high-voltage battery, estimated range.
In special cases (e.g., when the vehicle has detected a malfunction), it may be necessary to store data that would actually be transient.
If you make use of services (for example, repair services, maintenance work), the stored operating data together with the vehicle identification number can be read out and used if necessary. The read-out may be done by employees of the service network (e.g., garages, manufacturers) or third parties (e.g., breakdown services) from the vehicle. The same applies to warranty cases and quality assurance measures.
The read-out usually takes place via the legally prescribed connection for OBD ("on-board diagnostics") in the vehicle. The read-out operating data document technical conditions of the vehicle or individual components, help with fault diagnosis, compliance with warranty obligations and quality improvement. This data, in particular information on component load, technical events, incorrect operation and other errors, may be transmitted to the manufacturer together with the vehicle identification number and the manufacturer is also liable for product liability, for which the manufacturer also uses vehicle operating data, such as product recalls Data may also be used to verify customer's warranty and warranty.
Fault memory in the vehicle can be reset by a service company as part of repair or service work or at your request.
Comfort and infotainment functions
You can save comfort settings and customizations in the vehicle and change or reset them at any time.
These include, depending on the particular equipment e.g.
Settings of the seat and steering wheel positions,
Chassis and climate settings,
Individualizations such as interior lighting.
You can bring in the selected equipment itself data in infotainment functions of the vehicle.
These include, depending on the particular equipment e.g.
Multimedia data such as music, movies or photos for playback in an integrated multimedia system,
Address book data for use in conjunction with an integrated hands-free or integrated navigation system,
Entered navigation destinations,
Data on the use of Internet services.
These data for comfort and infotainment functions can be stored locally in the vehicle or they can be found on a device that you have connected to the vehicle (such as a smartphone, USB stick or MP3 player). If you have entered data yourself, you can delete it at any time.
A transmission of this data from the vehicle is exclusively at your request, especially in the context of the use of online services according to the settings you have selected.
Smartphone integration e.g. Android car or Apple car play
If your vehicle is equipped accordingly, you can connect your smartphone or another mobile device to the vehicle so that you can control it via the controls integrated in the vehicle. The picture and sound of the smartphone can be output via the multimedia system. At the same time certain information is transmitted to your smartphone. Depending on the type of integration, this includes, for example, position data, day / night mode and other general vehicle information. Please refer to the operating instructions of the vehicle / infotainment system.
The integration allows use of selected apps of the smartphone, e.g. Navigation or music playback. Another interaction between smartphone and vehicle, especially an active access on vehicle data, does not take place. The type of further data processing is determined by the provider of the app used. Whether and which settings you can make depends on the app and the operating system of your smartphone.
Online services
If your vehicle has a wireless network connection, this allows the exchange of data between your vehicle and other systems. The radio network connection is made possible by an on-board sender and receiver unit or via a mobile terminal (eg smartphone) that you have installed. Online functions can be used via this wireless network connection. These include online services and applications! Apps provided to you by the manufacturer or other vendors.
Manufacturer-owned services
For online services of the manufacturer or Mazda Motor (Germany) GmbH, the respective functions are described in a suitable place (for example, operating instructions and / or on the country-specific Mazda web site) by Mazda and given the associated data protection information. Personal information may be used to provide online services. The data exchange takes place via a protected connection, e.g. with the dedicated IT systems. In addition to the provision of services, collection, processing and use of personal data takes place exclusively on the basis of a legal permit, e.g. in the case of a statutory emergency call system, a contractual agreement or a consent.
You can enable or disable the (sometimes paid) services and features, and in some cases the entire network connectivity of the vehicle. Excluded from this are legally prescribed functions and services, such as an emergency call system.
Services of third parties
If you make use of the opportunity to use online services of other providers (third parties), these services are the responsibility and the privacy and terms of use of the respective provider. The manufacturer regularly has no influence on the contents exchanged here.
Please inform yourself about the nature, extent and purpose of the collection and use of personal data in the context of third-party services by the respective service provider.

This also applies to profiling based on this provision within the meaning of Art. 4 No. 4 DSGVO.
If you object, we will no longer process your personal information unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is for the purpose of enforcing, pursuing or defending legal claims.
2. We may also process your personal information in order to operate direct mail. If you do not want to receive advertising, you have the right to object to it at any time; this also applies to profiling insofar as it is associated with such direct mail.
